Open 2007 - In association with RBS

Hole by Hole Guide - 6th

Carnoustie 6th

Thursday 5th July 2007

Name: Hogan's Alley
Par: 5
Championship Tee: 578 yards
Medal Tee: 520 yards

Colin Says: Unless the wind is from the East they won't go down the alley. It's a huge carry to clear the bunkers in the centre of the fairway and even the longest hitters will be forced to play short.

Fergus Says: A brilliant par 5 that demands a strategic approach. Don't bother going for the green in two unless there is a monumental wind at your back. Play for position with your second shot avoiding the drainage ditch.

Paul Says: From the back tee, more than likely it will be a lay-up short of the bunker with an iron. The burn then comes in play with your second, the plan being to leave yourself a good yardage for your third. Some may go for the driver off the tee if it's downwind.
