Home favourites Clare Queen and Lynn Kenny took on European number one Sophie Gustafson and fellow Swede Johannna Westerberg in a Scotland versus Sweden closest to the pin challenge, hitting 100-yard shots from the bow to The Carrick's 15th green. First prize was a 2-night stay in the luxurious De Vere Deluxe mansion house, overlooking the The Carrick's 15th.

Clare Queen, The Carrick touring pro, was first up against last years Ladies Scottish Open winner Sophie Gustafson, beating the Swede two nil going close with both shots. Lynn Kenny then closed proceedings with a one nil win over Johanna Westerberg to secure victory for team Scotland.

“It was difficult to take aim as the boat was moving and the distance was really hard to judge as we kept drifting,” said Kelly, adding, “I hope this win is a good omen for the week.”
