How well do you strike the ball? This question can be difficult to answer as modern equipment does a good job disguising off centre strikes. However, if you fail to strike the ball from the centre of the blade every time, your distance control will be poor – regardless of the quality of the equipment you use. You can gain an understanding for exactly where you are striking the shot in practice by attaching some tape to the face of the club. As you can see here, the ball leaves a mark showing exactly where I've just hit the ball.
