The punch is an important shot offering increased control, especially into the wind. First take a narrower stance than usual and grip the club further down the shaft. These adjustments reduce body movement to improve control. Punching is about pinpoint accuracy so focus on making a compact three quarter backswing. Importantly, don't release your hands through impact. Most shots require a snap of the wrists at impact but not the punch. Prevent the wrists from breaking as firm hands will guide the ball towards its target.
