A hybrid is often a good option from a fairway bunker (as long as the lip isn't too steep) because the extra weight at the bottom of the head will help the ball airborne quickly. The key to success here is to ensure that you don't catch the sand before the ball. Firstly wiggle your feet into the sand to set a solid stance then grip down the club slightly and squeeze tight. Strangling the grip will help you find a more compact swing ensuring that you nip the ball cleanly off the top of the sand.
